(432) 729-4362 The Judd Foundation preserves the sites around Marfa where Judd lived and worked, such as La Mansana di Chinati, which houses his fascinatingly stocked library. The Chinati Foundation, a contemporary-art museum Judd founded in former Fort D.A. Russell, features his awesome installation of 100 almost-identical aluminum boxes. "Not visiting these is like going to Rome and skipping the Sistine Chapel," Gerety says.
- United Artists, Ltd
- 325 East San Antonio Street
(432) 729-1905 Phelan and Gerety's by-appointment conceptual-art project space occupies the front of their live/work building. Quarterly exhibitions feature such artists as multimedia star Carol Bove, Saatchi-collected Matthew Brannon and Whitney Biennial alum Wade Guyton. "If Michael's in a good mood, he might offer you some of Mexico's finest agave over ice," Gerety says.
