Hamptons Local Attractions
Head To The Shore
The South Fork has some of the most beautiful coastline in the country. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, it's a total hassle: Unless you have a resident permit, it's impossible to park. But in fall, the lots are as empty as the beaches, which are wide and blond with large, crashing, steely gray waves; up on the low bluffs are some spectacular houses. This is kite-flying weather, and there's a shop nearby to supply them: Second Star Toys in Bridgehampton, a proper, sweet toy shop (We doubt you will come out with just a kite).

Blustery afternoons are the best for seeing movies, and Sag Harbor has one of the most charming theaters ever. A historic landmark, it's a time warp to the grand old days of cinema, playing high-quality independent films.
