7:00 a.m. Wake up sans alarm in my 100-year-old Bozeman, MT, bungalow. Brew just enough water for a cup of Irish Breakfast tea (choiceorganicteas.com), then walk Cricket, my Corgi and the Ideal Bite mascot. Breakfast is a fried egg, since I have seven free-range chickens.
8:24 a.m. Brief, invigorating shower with my low-flow, high-pressure Elite showerhead (oxygenics.com).
8:30 a.m. Pull on a shirt from Buffalo Exchange, a cool chain that buys and resells vintage clothing, plus designer jeans I got on eBay (another good form of recycling!).
8:35 a.m. Doing a TV spot today, which means wearing makeup: mineral finishing powder (alimacosmetics.com) applied with a non-animal hairbrush (aveda.com), and natural mascara (honeybeegardens.com).
8:45 a.m. Walk the quarter mile to my office, Cricket in tow.
10:00 a.m. Conference call with our San Francisco office to go over the week's tips. We love confessing the "personally speaking" section of each tip, so our subscribers know we're not perfect.
11:00 a.m. Sketch out a new website design with eco whiteboard markers—nontoxic and refillable (ecosmartworld.com)!
12:30 p.m. Lunch is a smoothie made with Spiru-Tein non-GMO protein powder (naturesplus.com), organic berries and OJ, and liquid iron—I am a "pescatarian" and eat fish only when it is, well, served to me, so I do what I can to supplement.
1:15 p.m. IM with my business partner in San Fran. We e-chat constantly, allowing us to connect without having to jump on the phone, much less a plane. Prepare a week's worth of Ideal Bite tips using Word's editing function. Our ideas go through five rounds of edits and are never printed out.
3:00 p.m. Walk to local NBC station for the satellite-hookup interview. Topic: kicking the bottled-water habit. It's hard to believe that fewer than a quarter of all plastic bottles are actually recycled!
4:15 p.m. Book monthly flight to NYC—I know, not so great. But I offset the flight's carbon emissions through Native Energy, which funds renewable-energy projects that fight global warming.
