Smoked Mussels

These mail-order mussels from Stonington Seafood are rope-grown in Blue Hill, ME. They are ocean-y, sweet and good enough to eat plain.

Mussels just might have been on the menu at the first Thanksgiving feast.

Pile in a bowl, garnish with chopped parsley and serve with little toothpicks (silver ones feel suitably glam). For a more substantial appetizer, add lemon wedges and some warm buttered toast.
