Unexpected noir blooms and leaves exude drama and sophistication.
Group a few overscale blooms like peonies and dahlias with deep-red carnations and rich-hued leaves. Airy white spikes of heuchera lighten the composition. Take the strongest stems and form a bouquet in your hand, turning it around once or twice as you add in flowers. Tie the bundle with string. (Hint: You may need to use your teeth to pull it tight.) Cut the stems to fit your container, then nudge the rest into place.
