Shag in the Bedroom
When I was about fifteen, I decided that I needed to do stomach exercises--this was before I became an aerobics instructor at Elaine Powers, the first woman of fitness, and had to wear Powercise t-shirts and flesh-colored tights. I must have spent hours in my bedroom on the yellow shag rug doing crunches and other torturous lift and twist moves. The rug had seen better days then, but you should see it now. It's still there, and I swear you can see the imprint of my knees from when I did my fire-hydrant leg lifts.
You'd think I'd have had enough of shag, but look what I went and did at IKEA today: I bought a white shag rug for the bedroom--the Vitten they call it. White I call it. Maybe the smell of it will trigger my somatic memory and make me do some situps.
What do you think? I can't decide, but might work better in the living room. We'll see.

Smart. Like it.
Cool. Emma likes it too. She seems to find the very center of it and has a sit.
I have a similar (larger) IKEA rug in our living room. It's very cozy and has held up well. We are wondering if it's a bit hot for summer, but ours is more....dominating, size-wise. Looks good!
I have the same rug and love it. Only drawback....that thing shed cream colored wool for OVER A YEAR. That's right. It would ball up and appear in the corners of my home, like fluffy little dust bunnies. Enjoy, but be prepared.
where do i send my shag photos! yay, i fit in:)
I really like thw white shag in the
bedroom.
Send your shag photos to videos (at) dominomag.com. Seriously, we can do a shag slide show!
How's the feel of this rug? I was at IKEA and touched one and it felt really itchy, not soft. But it might have been the FLOKATI rug instead of the VITTEN.
I think it's pretty soft for a shag. Most Flokati I've felt are softer than this. But I think it's pretty cozy. It doesn't feel at all like one of the soft wool pile rugs around these days though.
