Mother's Day

I'm going to visit my mom for Mother's Day this year. She still lives in the house I grew up in. Here it is looking like a model home with saplings for trees.

And here's my childhood room. That's me in the plaid being "kidnapped" by Carmen Eden who was assigned to be my "big sister" at school. Basically they'd take you out in your pajamas and make you serenade the Catholic boys at Chaminade.

Notice the very '70s color scheme and the curtain rod hung high to make the ceilings soar... I guess Sue Ellen at Ethan Allen knew what she was doing.

See any other similarities between that room and this?

Your childhood bedroom looks like it came from the current Pottery Barn catalog! Funny how all things come around. And now you must have nature growing up the walls of your bedroom. I hated the mossy green carpeting of my bedroom, but now it is much more appealing.

I know! Those vines totally made me laugh. Of course the decor for that room was totally not my influence at all!

WOW what a house!!! Lucky you! Your childhood room looks like something straight outta Domino!

Ha! My mom had that exact same wallpaper in her bathroom!

That was the bathroom with a blue shag rug that had little purple spots on it from a not terribly successful attempt to dye my hair blond....

Jimn, you had a blue shag rug in a room with yellow and green wallpaper? I'd love to see that...

Love them both. That 70s photo is a classic. I'd blow it up and hang it on your wall.

The blue shag rug went with the blue bathtub, which my mom says she got because of the one in "The Princess and the Goblin."
