Looky, I Drew a Marmoleum Floor Pattern

Kitchenfloor

Marmoleum's got some patterns on their own site, and Katy Elliott, one of our trusty web people here pointed out that we've got some great Marmoleum patterns in our eco-friendly floor slide show. But I decided to take some color pencils and do my own. Not sure I like it, but...

Turns out the kitchen is 8 feet by 15.5 feet. The built-ins are about a foot and a half deep. Forgot to measure how wide, but I think about 7 feet.

What you think? Should I quit my job and become a floor designer?

Not...

This is a neat design but you might be better off going with the full checked pattern if your cabinets and furniture are going to be solid colors. The solid color floor is just not as fun as harlequin.

Yeah, I think checked is the way to go. Or stripes. I think I figured if my room is 16 by 8 about--a little less, then I'll need 128 tiles--the ones I have in there now are 1 foot square. Marmoleum, I read somewhere, is 13 inches across, which challenges my math-addled brain.

More folks at work saying to keep it wood now too. What if I just tear up the tiles. Wonder if it'll make me actually start on the kitchen faster or if it'll just mean I'll spend more time with a nasty floor in the kitchen...

I think it's cool. I love marmoleum, I wish I had aplace to use it. I've seen such cool graphic patterns done with it. Cool idea!
