Chloe Warner Inspiration Floor
I'm sort of thrilled at the idea of a tearing up the kitchen tiles this weekend and discovering a less than pristine wooden floor. Because if I don't do cork or rubber--more on that anon--or Marmoleum, I'd get to stencil!!!! Weeeee! I love this stencil story we did a few years ago.
And I love Chloe Warner's stenciled front hall. More of her on this Chloe Warner House Tour video!

The stencil library has released many new stencils in the past year. They also have an amazing gallery of 140 ideas/images, the way they layer stencils is amazing. Layering a couple images could be used to mimic a feeling similar to the apartment tour floor.
oh yay for stenciled floors! How beautiful is that one in your pic?! Perfect. Did you hear that Melanie at Modello Designs is coming with a crew to do some stenciling at Peacock Pavilions? *so* excited about it!!!
Oooooh.... now you've got me wondering whether I could stencil unsealed cork...
Ooooh stenciled cork. So you get the soft and the noise insulation (which I'm so into) and the stencil.
O00h you can absolutely stencil on unfinished cork tiles and it IS divine to walk on! If you scroll down this page http://designamour.com/category/modello-marquetry/ you can see some unfinished cork tiles that were stenciled with waterbased gel stains prior to installation.
The stenciled wood floor here is really gorgeous. Thanks for turning me on to the link Maryam!
Melanie your work is amazing! I particularly love your staircase.
Do you really have to order unfinished cork tiles from China though?
Hi Cathy,
I've got a little something for you on 'mirrormirror'. No pressure to play...

I would like to invite you to post my site as one of your resources. Thanks so much!

Thank you about the staircase! We are getting ready to do another one here and will possibly be doing something in Marrakech for Maryam of My Marrakech at her Peacock Pavilions guesthouses there.
You don't order the cork from China, you can find a local source and THEY order it. They just generally don't stock the unfinished tiles, particularly the 24" ones. I understand the 12" ones are easier to come by! The brand I have been using is Expanko and I understand that they are top of the line. I just picked up two more boxes for a new project at my house. Yeah!
Even just painting...perfect for umperfect floors. I painted the floors in a guest room, just to test how I'd like it. I love it. And, having just come back from a trip to Copenhagen, painted floors rae very popular there, for years, and the more scratched sometimes the better!

OMG, would you believe me if I told you my browser only shows me part of the words I write?? IMperfect, not, um, umperfect!!!
Can I leave the umperfect comment up though anyway? I think it's funny!
