Rug Off: Do People Really Shop for Furniture on the Internet?
I am ready to buy a rug this week. Especially if I can touch and feel it before I buy it. Where oh where can I see the Thomas Paul one in person? Do people seriously shop for furniture on the internet?
Here are finalists:
cpmanda suggested this one from CB2 (about $300):
this is the plum feathered rug from Thomas Paul and Design Public: (about $600)
Pottery Barn Diamond Loop Jute rug, which incidentally is what Chloe Warner has in her place (about $200):

i vote the first rug from cb2, i thought the purple feather rug didn't look quite right in your bedroom when photoshopped in.
I really like the jute rug! And, it's such a good price. But the blue one is a close second.
The cb2 one.
The purple didn't look good against your wood floor. And the Pottery Barn one looks like dried-up oatmeal.
PS: A cb2 is opening in NYC next Tuesday, according to their Web site, so you should be able to check out the rug in person.
I vote for the blue one since I suggested it....like pt said the soho shope of CB2 is opening up and you can check the rug out. Here's a map info: http://www.cb2.com/stores/store.aspx?id=178
Oh good, so I can stall until next week!
And I'm going to Seattle for Thanksgiving and apparently Velocity Art and Design has a retail store with the Thomas Paul rug in it. So I can feel it underfoot. My mother thinks I should go for the dried up oatmeal one from Pottery Barn. Maybe I'll take a field trip there this afternoon. That's work. Right?
I thought I loved the plum feather, but everyone else is right, it didn't look right in your bedroom when it was photoshoped in... So, I definitely vote for the CB2 option! And, according to this month's issue, Domino is hosting an opening party at CB2. And then they are offering design consultations.... it says to check out dominotogo.com for more details.
But, I still think you should check out both the plum rug and the pottery barn option, that way when you make a decision you'll feel like you REALLY know what is out there and you won't second guess yourself.
Good luck!! Allie
No dried up oatmeal! PLEASE!
You won't like the way it feels on bare feet, anyway... it's torture. When I first moved in my house, I covered the floors with jute, sisal, and seagrass - one year later those scratchy, bumpy, fraying, stained mats were trashed.
I love the way they look, but I think you have to live lightly on them for them to work. No spills, no pets....
I really like that brown and white Thomas Paul you had photoshopped in.
I think sky blue is a bit much if you've got blue walls as well, the purple just doesn't go and dried up oatmeal is horrendous.
BTW many shops that buy stuff online might send you a rug sample as well.
I am really fond of the Thomas Paul damask rugs.
The blue one looks good, but I would be too worried whether or not it would work with the wall color.
My only concern about the brown is how easily it would show dirt, cat hair, etc.
I'm not helping, am I?
Also very fond of the CB2 rug.
Yes...people do buy rugs on the internet. A friend of mine bought an oriental at overstock dot com for a fab price and i was there when it arrived and it was awesome!
I buy a lot of furniture online...including a Thomas Paul rug, the brown and cream coral design. I love it! It's plush and makes a really graphic statement...it does show pet hair, but vacuums up beautifully.
