Ta Da! Powder Coated Lawn Chairs
Guess what? Isaac took me to see his pals at Colorlife Powder Coating in Hicksville, New York (516. 433.1222) who powder coated a steel chair sculpture of his years ago. They did a great job on his piece so he remembered them and drove me out there last weekend. Their shop is right near an IKEA, so we went there too, but I only came away with some candles and a belly full of salmon salad. (It's unnatural that I can resist IKEA; I know).
I had the chairs done in a glossy white and will get some colorful patterned cushions for them next. I hope the advocates for chocolate brown and orange will forgive me. I'll see what I can do with the fabric for the cushions.
Here's the before picture--if you click on it, you can see what a wreck they were. The Colorlife shop is below that.

The chair looks great, Scrappy! Ah, something accomplished and scratched off the "to-do" list. Well done!
Hurray! It looks awesome--I'm so glad you did this, and that you went with white. I love powder-coated stuff.
How UTTERLY gorgeous. And could only be white...
Wow - looks great! If you don't mind me asking: how much did this cost to do both chairs?
It was a great deal! 150 for both. In the city, people were quoting a lot more.
You were smart to ignore all of us; they're smashing in white.
They look fabulous and what a great deal!
Ta Da! Indeed! That chair looks fantastic and with just the right cushions, everyone is going to want to sit in it. And lucky you, you have two of them. Such a shopper, you are! You are getting to be a real, little "neekokeera" (gr. for homemaker), Cathy!
Fantastic! Now I can't wait to see what cusions you get for them! You really are motoring right through that to-do list, bravo!

It's sort of funny. That huge list somehow motivated me rather than daunted me. Wait til you see what else I've done. I did go rug shopping too, but at ABC Home & Carpet, where there was an 8K rug on sale for 2K. I was like, uh, out of my price range...
I'm looking. I should shoot photos of the looking, but today I'm going to the beach.
Thanks for the tip! I am so excited, I just bought some vintage metal chairs at a tag sale this weekend. Now I know where to have them painted!
Thanks

very freaking AWESOME
This chair has stuck in my head with envy since you first posted it! I am so happy you had them powdercoated. I've been meaning to get some outdoor furniture powdercoated for about 6 years ago. I've also been meaning to get some glass pieces for a table about as long! Why are such errands such a pain? Congrats - you have inspiried me to TCB!
