Shades for Little Lamps
Check or no check? I'm not sure these shades are right for the little lamps but it was all I could find at Target. Any way to salvage them? Or is the shape completely wrong? I'm tempted to take a black crayon and just do a rubbing across them or something.
Oh, and can I just complain about how hard it is to find small drum or square lampshades? Thanks.

I'm sorry to say scrappy, but no check. That shape is just not working. Did you try cb2? They have some nicely priced options.
Hmm, not quite right. I think you do need a drum--try lamps.com?
I just saw this at UO: http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=-9102705395871521726&itemdescription=true&itemCount=-1&id=13981998&parentid=A_FURN_WHATSNEW&sortProperties=&navCount=3&_D%3AnavCount=+&navAction=poppush&color=&_DARGS=%2Furban%2Fcatalog%2Fcommon%2Fitemlink.jsp
Would that maybe be a good tree-mural solution for you?
Those are what an old boss of mine used to call "NQR"--not quite right.
Drum shades in all sizes are sadly under-stocked in most stores, sad to say.
You could try Just Shades in Manhattan; it's supposed to be good.
It's also really expensive. In fact, I did go there and they had the right shade, but it was like $60. Or something like that and I got scared. Now I should have just bought it to begin with, given the fact that I spent an amount I wont' admit at Target for the fugly ones.
Now, now. The current ones aren't fugly, they just aren't right for those lamps. They're good basic shades (and in fact I think I have one just like that on my bedside lamp) and might work with other lamps around the house? Or as hats for parties?
How about taller and thinner? Maybe from the new Ikea catalog, page 308, less than $10.
