Feather Wallpaper in the Bedroom?

Ferm_living_feather_wallpaper

This is serious decorating. I'm thinking of wallpapering one of the walls in my bedroom.

I love, love, love this "Feather" wallpaper from Ferm Living. I've been obsessed with it since I saw it on decor8 ages ago. What do you think?

  1. Is it too much in a room with blue walls?
  2. Does it work on the small wall with the windows to the left of the door? Or do you prefer it on the long wall as you walk in the door?
  3. Why is it so hard to picture what this will look like?
  4. Does anyone know of a good professional wallpaperer in Brooklyn who would take on such teeny weeny job?
  5. Did I ever tel you about Curly, my mother's wallpaperer? Tomorrow...

I love it, and I think it's just what you need for some serious drama in the room. I think the whole thing will really pull together, though you may also be hit by an urge to paint the walls a slightly darker blue...

In terms of visualizing, how about hitting up friends in the art department for a spot of photoshopping? You could get a better idea of whether it's best on the long wall, as an anchor, or the window wall, as an accent.

I love the wallpaper and think it will bring some sophistication and added dimension to the room. Whichever wall you choose,(I like the long wall) I would recommend putting your bed on the wallpaper wall since it will be such a focal point.

I like it too! I think it will look perfect with the pale blue walls, and will really add to the room in general. I'm excited to see it done if/when you do it!

I agree with mudrick, use it on a wall without windows and put your bed against it. This is going to look so awesome.

What about wallpapering a screen/room divider with it to add drama to a corner of the room or use as a headboard?

When I scroll up and down, the peacock "eyes" seem to follow me. That could be a lot of drama....

I agree with the others about using it on long wall with bed against it. I have always adored that wallpaper too. So dramatic and gorgeous.

Beautiful wallpaper, but I'd install it upside down. It reads better that way to me...

Germi--totally! I thought the same thing when I looked at it again.

I like it on the bed wall. WE just finished wallpapering a room where the paper was 27 inches wide with a 27 inch drop and was NOT prepasted. Yours looks much easier.

i think you should stop asking so many question and just go with it. go with whatever you feel, it's much easier that way and then your space is reflective of you, not the rest of the world. ..which is why people will enjoy being in your space--it's you.

I love it! It looks really good with your mid-century pieces.

See if Pink Loves Brown will photoshop it for you - she is AWESOME at that (over at MakingItLovely).

I love the vintage one Casapinka sent you in a later post - wouldn't it be fun to have a decadent closet papered in that?

Another magazine that shall remain unnamed but starts w/ a "B" had a good DIY wallpapering article this month.

I'm having huge wallpaper commitment issues as well - it seems like the same level of commitment a tattoo requires or something (and I don't have any of those either!) I'm relieved I couldn't find a wallpaperer when I wanted Cole and Sons "Woods," b/c I fell out of love with it.

Becky

wow, that design looks just like thomas paul's "feather" linen pillow design! i think it would look amazing!
