Somehow I can't get a handle on the size--is it a dining table? End table?
It it's a dining table, you could only seat people on two of the four sides. And that stretcher bridging the two legs would get annoying (everyone's feet would keep bumping up against it).
Two questions:
Do you LOVE it?
Do you NEED it?
By the way what happened with the bedside tables, which ones did you go with?
I don't know why, but I like it. That being said, don't take it unless you love it. I understand the lure of free furniture (believe me I do,) but yeah, make sure you love it.
(I'm thinking it's a dining table)
I actually like the idea of this as a desk. Maybe even painted white, or just cleaned up--I love a big wide space for a desk, and this looks like it would be great paired with a very modern chair.
I am with katef 100%. A so-so dining table...but a stunning desk. Ditto for pairing it with a modern chair.
I like it as a white desk too. I'm sick of my cluncky Wooten one though it's fabulous for storage. And that's the rub: what about storage??! Off to Tanzania. Will reply when I return. Thanks for suggestions. I'll tell Ande not to get rid of it quite yet.
It's a library table, and if you want to, you can cut it down to coffee table height - that's what my parents did and it's still in their living room in new york today. My father does woodworkig so I can't give you any tips, although I can vouch for the solid-ness of the table - I wacked my head into it often enough when I was little.
Where in the world would you put it?
Yes.
I think it has great potential. I have a table very similar to that in my office. I use in as an island and have several stools (no backs) that tuck underneath. I use it when I need to gift wrap, scrap book (okay I dream about having time to do that!), or to spread out a project that I am working on. I love the look and it provides a great workspace.
Yes, Grab it!!! Why don't my friends ever have anything that cool to give away?
