Back to Howard Johnson
Check out the amazing color palette in this room Kim posted over at Desire to Inspire. I think it's John Meyer and Linda Wary's apartment in Portland, Maine. You can see more photos of it on Wary Meyers Decorative Arts.
It's making me feel like it'd be okay to go back to painting the kitchen orange. A while ago, I let the orange go when my pal Melissa pointed out that it was very Howard Johnson! Of course, HoJo's updated their blue...
Will I get sick of an orange and turquoise and green house? Or should I throw caution to the wind and just paint it?

If you get tired of it, you can just paint again. Go for it! How ORANGE is your orange going to be?
JUST PAINT IT. What's the use in having your own pad if you have to be shy and retiring with it's color scheme, and you don't like shy and retiring? When I lived in New Mexico which is full of bright colors, I had a red living room, red Chinese kiddo nursery, bright gold/yellow tv room and a bright green bedroom which had this darker green "rain" coming down with this cut out sponge brush that I dragged down. Periwinlkle kitchen with Mexican talavera tiles that I did over the cheap formica one weekend (with a wrought iron chandy with bright pink silk flowers glued over all the shades.)I was happy all the time in that house, and when I got sick of it I just painted over (well, I would have if I had gotten sick of it.) You only live once, and if the above description sounds hideous, how come everyone always wanted to come over and drink sangria and lie in the hammock?
That's so funny Cathy! I just painted my new kitchen orange. I was a little scared at first too, but now I'm SO happy with it. I chose from Behr.
Ack, it wouldn't let me use HTML because I was trying to link to the color I used. Anyway, I'll just write it out. It's Apricot flower from Behr, and you can see a sample (though the computer monitor is so deceiving in terms of colors) here: http://www.materials-world.com/paint-colors/behr/behr-colorsmart/behr-colorsmart-11.htm
How cool...you've posted my turquoise inspiration room - which I LOVE more and more every day. And my front hallway used to be orange and I HATED it. I think alot of that had to do with the terrible orange I chose. I love using bright colours in small doses, like on accent walls, so if you tire of it, you just paint over it, like my orange wall which is now grey. (MUCH BETTER.)
I forgot to mention...I have one wall in my living room a FAB green too! And aqua in my dining room...
My kitchen has a 12 foot yellow tiled wall in it and a bright red linoleum floor, mandarin orange chairs around the kichen table, a canary yellow fridge, and tons of colorful enamelware hanging everywhere - it is everybody's favorite room ... I spend all my time here (I'm sitting in the kitchen now), and it makes me soooo happy. Go with your desire! Do your orange and do it soon! I can't wait to see it ...
Well, ya know what I'd say........
Mr. Simpson
How's about when I get back from Tanzania, I see how I feel. The paint is sitting there, ready to play with. Maybe an accent wall in the kitchen and then if I redo the kitchen and want to paint it grey, so be it!
Casapinka, if you have pictures of that place you should post them on your site as pre-casapinka. It sounds like something I would love!
