I can't take credit for that headline, but I do detect a new series in it. Here's a question for you (or two): Do books belong in the bedroom? Do TVs? Do little black kitty cats with glowing eyes?
I say books yes (though right now mine aren't), TV no. I like to read in bed, so right now I just have a pile on my nightstand, since the bookshelves are in my office and downstairs in the living room and dining area.
I just personally find TV more of a wire-me-up thing, and also think the black hole effect when it's off is really unattractive and not relaxing or soothing enough for a bedroom.
Yes to books and kitties. I hate the look of a bedroom tv but I sure do like getting some videos and having a video night in bed, complete with popcorn and peanut M&Ms. The tv thing is just preference - if you lie in bed and watch it then keep it! A piece of pretty fabric over your trunk would look great.
Books are a big yes -- it's cosy to read a book by yourself and can be very romantic to read books in bed with someone else. Plus, books can be beautiful. TVs aren't beautiful and are generally soul sucking, so I say no to them in the bedroom.
Books? Yes. Kitties? Absolutely. I can't get with the TV in the bedroom, even though I'm a total TV addict.
i personally love books in the bedroom. curling up to read is one of my favorite pass-times--and what a better place to do it than bed? kitty-cats--yes. why not? you love it. keep it. tv--i have to shout out a negative--i think your bedroom should be a retreat, away from chaos and commotion! plus i just hate the look of electronics! i feel very generous that i even allow my husband room for his flat screen and nintendo wii in the family room! urg. enough with the screens and cords!
Books? Sure, as long as your bedroom doesn't turn into a library. Kitties? If you're into them. TV? A definite YES! There's nothing I love more than waking up on the weekends and either catching up on the news or watching some design shows. And although I hate the look of a TV in the bedroom, I keep mine in an armoire so I can hide it when I don't want to see it.
Books - if you must. TV - No, no, no! Bad Feng Shui.
books - no (unless stored in a closed cabinet, the goal is to not see visual clutter in a bedroom that activates your brain.)
cats - yes yes yes.
tvs - no (unless it is stored behind closed cabinet doors, as well.)
that is at least how I see it. I think books and tv should stay in an office/hallway/living room space - and the bedroom should be for relaxation and tender moments (hubba hubba).

oh, but i want to add that i read in bed each night, i keep a few novels in my bedside table (in the drawer) and pull them out as needed.
Books? Definitely. Cats? Sure.
TV? It depends on how much you want your bedroom to be a sanctuary. When I moved in with my fiancee, we put an extra tv in the bedroom with a DVD player, but otherwise it's not hooked up to cable or an antenna. That way you can watch the occasional movie, but not have it on all the time. When not in use, cover it with an attractive cloth (no need for a bulky cabinet, i say) and you'll hardly ever notice it.
I think that is a great picture of your cat. Its fine, the room, that corner...its just that you need more of you on the walls, and the rest of the apartment. I've look at some of these other blogs and thank god you live in your apartment, your space. Not some slice of an IKEA catalog or (ick) Crate and Barrel. People should express themselves, like your artwork. People should not walk into someones home and say "Oh, I've got that couch too, Ooo neat!" Is everyone really this cowardly. People! stop being cookie cut citizens.
Respectfully, Mr. Simpson
kitties are a must =^.^= i wish mine were in my room with me more often!
i just purchased my first home and am working out how i want to manage my space. (most everything is still in moving boxes off to the side.) as much as i love books (i could use a walk-in library instead of a walk-in closet!), i think books and electronics should be kept out of the room. i love the idea of watching movies while in bed or reading and what not, but there's a time and place for that, and the bedroom's purpose is for sleeping and that :)
