More Better Murals
The paint on my walls is cracking and will soon flake, even though I JUST had it painted (grrrrr). So it worries me to think about spending a lot of money on a mural. But, I found this amazing cherry tree (is it?) by Tim Walker called "Shona's Tree, St. Pancreas wall painting, London," which I found in Fotographie. It's so beautiful and dilapidated; the paint on the wall is flaking. Maybe when my room disintegrates it'll look this good.
If not, I have another option...
I know I can't shut up about my Art Deco, Oscar Wilde lair, but look at this room by Paul Poiret from 1924. I mean, if ever I doubted it, now I know there is nothing new under the sun. I will have this room, by god. (You can find the original photo in Suzanne Trocme's Influential Interiors by the way.)
Makes me think I really should start buying up all the 80's knockoff Fortuny-pleated dresses from the thrift stores and make some curtains already.

i saw this (http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/the-gallery/the-gallery-mary-temple-016996) and thought of you. not sure if you'd be in to it, but it seems like a cool way to get a mural like tree on your wall without actually making it seem like there's a tree there.
Oh my gosh, Kroxas, those are SO cool. (The link works if you just erase that final parentheses.) What a neat solution for a dark room, and that is much subtler than a full-on mural.
Catherine, is there any indication of why your walls are already peeling? That seems....really wrong.
Cathy, I can't believe you found tim walker's inspiration! that is so funny and it was beautiful in black and white. Just want to offer a thought on your cracking walls. if you have done a lot of work on a house it is quite normal for cracks to appear in the following 6 months or so. The house is just settling and with the change in a season and the heating going on etc a house does move and new paint work cracks. if you repaint now it should be fine. Annoying but true. x rita
Oh wow! That is gorgeous!
I want that in my home office RIGHT NOW. Whats the going rate for a muralist these days?
I think the walls are cracking because there was a fire a few floors up and water leaked down into the apartment last summer. But that was a year and a half ago...

I love this one. Almost a reverse photo image. http://mdesignla.com/residential/residence_6/index.html
It's so interesting that all these windblown to the left trees are murals everywhere. This is about the sixth with the same shape. I wonder what it's origin is.
Hi
This mural pic is from Italian Vogue ages ago. The photographer is Tim Walker , I think Shona is the name of the muralist but I'm not sure as I tore the page out for my sketchbook without the credits on!
