Mid-Century Wooton-esque Hideaway Desk

Closed_wootan_desk

No, it's not an entertainment center--I still don't watch TV. It's a mid-century wooton desk that closes up into a plain old cabinet. It even locks, so I can keep out all the nosey parkers. Call it the desk equivalent of a Murphy bed. Now you see it, now you don't.

I found it in Pennsylvania at this former Chinese restaurant/junk shop in Simpson, Pennsylvania where Isaac has his studio. More on that another day. Does anyone know exactly what kind of desk this is? I know it's not really a Wooton desk...

I love this desk! Color me jealous.

I work from home. That would be the greatest thing for me. Christmas is coming, y'know... *hint, hint*

Just in from you nosy neighbor with keys to your apartment: The blue bedroom color looks GREAT!!! Perfect. Don't think twice about it. And OHMYGOSH (i don' t really know those internet abbreviations) -- the desk is beautiful. More so in person. Well done, scrappy!

Can you say furniture lust? I don't have the space for this gorgeous piece but would have bought it nonetheless. Perfect for Scrappy Girl working at home!

Wow, I saw the exact same desk at a thrift store in Seattle for about $25 this summer. I thought it was really cool, but couldn't figure out where to put it in my house. Weird to see the same one on your blog (maybe it hopped on a plane?).

See, $25. That's the thing about finds. Because I paid about 10 times and everyone thought it was such a deal. I wonder if the guy I bought it from found it in Seattle...
