Real Good Chair: But Is It Fugly?

Okay, I admit it's not the best time to recommend spending your imperiled clams on, say, antelope minaudieres, but we all need a place to sit and eat. And I feel bad for the NYC college freshman currently in their second month of school who completely missed out on the flush Sex and the City years (a blessing, I think), so here's a little sumpin' for that dorm room: the Real Good Chair from Urban. Sure it's not grammatically correct ... but is it fugly?

It ships flat (only to the lower 48) and when opened up looks like a powder blue Swiss Army knife. They call it comfy; I think it might cut me. But it's ironic and sculptural and sort of Moss-on-the-cheap ($100 each).

And FUGLY?

Speak.

I'm confused as to how the Republican design terrorists at Urban Outfitters got their hands on one of Blu Dot's pieces; even more confused as to how they can charge less than the company that designed it?

Oh holy cow Keehnan I knew I'd seen this chair before ... but not at Moss!! Jeez I don't know how it wound up at Urban but I sure ain't spending the extra $29 bucks.

It's not a knockoff situation. Urban Outfitters is an authorized retailer of Blu Dot products.

Very "sharp"! Too much so to look comfortable. With other choices out there this is not the chair I would pick.

The top is attractive, but I agree that it looks really uncomfortable. The main reason I wouldn't buy this chair, though, is those hideous little white legs with the black caps. They remind me of a bad laundry rack (that I, ahem, own).

Hmmm, wouldn't be my top pick for comfort. It's interesting to look at, but my tailbone and back of my knees are already hurting just looking at it. You summed it all up when you said you thought it might cut you - too funny!

I'm not down with the origami inspired chair and agree, that yes, it looks like it might cut you if you sit on it.

heinous.

I love how uncomfortable it looks. I have a chair in my living room that visitors are always afraid to sit in. They make the most interesting faces as their bottoms edge towards what they are sure is impending doom. Much to their surprise (and my delight), it is really comfy. I?d like to stage an open house one day and do a photo study on folks as they sit in the ?danger chair? for the first time. Perhaps if my clams become a bit less imperiled, I?ll add this real good beauty to my porch.

And ps- it looks like something Tootie might have sold on the Facts of Life (the later years) when they owned that "super cool" 80's furniture and accessories store. This would be next to the giant lips couch.

Oh yes, FUG-LY. I love the powder-blue, but I just can't even imagine a room that would be improved by this chair.

Hmm i kinda like to look at it. But I'd be afraid of the hinges pinching my behind! I would be afraid to sit in it, but I like to see it.

Oh yes, it's a definite conversation starter. You know, when your guests' head rolls off on the floor when she/he accidentally trips as she/he goes over to admire it.
