Palm Springs Coming Up....

I have to admit that I am rather excited about this next shopping trip. Am off to Palm Springs in September. I know that I have got to stop feeling like I am going on holiday but it just seems like too funny a destination not to get a little excited by. Am anticipating a lot of palm trees, pink drinks, kitsch junk shops and vintage cadillacs. If anyone has any Palm Springs delights to share please do. xx

The One Eleven 111 Antique Mall is a must-visit! It's a huge store featuring a large collection from different dealers. Lots of mid-century treasures in there and the prices range from all over. (I bought a really cool bright orange bakelight radio for $32 there).
Eat lunch at Spencers on the hill. Have a drink outside at the Parker Hotel. Have dinner in their outdoor patio at The Tropicale. Have fun!!!
you must visit the parker, if you're not already staying there!
i just got your comment on my post at coco+kelley, and wanted to clarify ~ i certainly didn't mean to use the term 'silly' in a negative sense, i just usually find your shopping guides to contain very cute little finds that aren't nearly as useful as the chair you wrote about that I had been hunting down :) apologies if you found it offensive!
You should read Maison 21 blog. He's got the`skinny!
coco kelly, thank you for your comment and clarification of your post. am sorry if i was quick to respond! it is sometimes hard to get the nuance in black and white text. did you get the chair? and did you find it cheaper?!
thanks Rita ~ I actually did find the chair at a few places for some incredible bargains! i'm moving next month, and hope to purchase them then :) thanks for the great find and have fun palm springs!
You MUST go into the J. Crew Resort on El Paseo in Palm Desert. It's totally inspired by Kelly Wearstler. Make sure you check out the dressing rooms.
Food in Palm Springs is very very sketchy...the only food place I can highly recommend is Native Foods which is in a strip mall, set behind the first bank of stores. Native Foods is all vegan, but the food is fresh. Good for lunch and dinner, and they are open relatively late, especially for palm springs.
1775 E Palm Canyon, so its the part of Palm Canyon that isn't the main strip of restaurants and old people walking very slow.
Its a chain but the Palm Springs restaurant was one of the first ones. www.nativefoods.com
Look for a little place called "Las Palmas" . . . They make the best fresh fish tacos! A very casual place, and inexspensive! Also, in Palm Desert on El Paseo dr, don't miss the Tommy Bahama store. Their resteruant and bar upstairs is great.
Just what you want to experience during or after a day of shopping!
Great, thank you for both of those tips. xx
Hi Rita!
If you like steak, definitely try LG's Prime Steakhouse in Palm Springs - great steaks, great wine selection, great service! LG's is the only way I can get my desert-hating husband out to Palm Springs.
I also suggest cocktails and the spa (not in that order) at the Viceroy - the bar is small, but really nice (especially during the week), and the spa is just downright lovely.
And some may consider it plebian, but Elmer's on E. Palm Cyn Dr. has great pancakes!
Have a great time! I love Palm Springs and I can't wait to see what you discover there!
Oh, Rita - go to The Parker and stroll the gardens! I designed the plantings (the team from Elysian Landscapes headed by Judy Kameon did the job) and I would love to hear what you think of the space. I love it, but I'm not partial!
And the food in the garden restaurant is pretty yummy - Palm Springs being what it is, food-wise...

Great, thank you for both of those tips. xx
Oh I love Palm Springs. Was just there and stayed at The Movie Colony Hotel. A small boutique hotel - absolutely gorgeous. Albert Frey design. Happy Hour starts at 4:00pm till whatever.
Drinks at The Viceroy. Tyler's Burgers is great. Its in the La Plaza centre, built in the '30's. I suggest sitting outside - they have misters!
You have to go to Cheeky's for breakfast.
622 North Palm Canyon Dr

It's so yummy. I had the eggs benedict on fresh chive scones. Amazing. It was the best food I've had in Palm Springs and I've been to a few places.
have just got back from Palm Springs. i loved it. Cheeky's was especially delicious, we had lunch there a couple of times and a really good breakfast. lunch at the Viceroy is lovely too. x
