Matchbox Bed
I think this might be the nicest, simplest bed frame for the money:
The Matchbox from CB2, $599 for a queen. Available in lobster orange or white lacquer (actually prefer the white but it disappears on their backdrop) with little black block feet that I might paint white. I like how they point out the mitered corner detail because the alternative tops my list of Chain Store Pet Peeves. By that I mean the Stonehenge effect of Ikea and West Elm and CB2's Parsons tables and such. Is it that much more expensive to miter a corner? I guess so. Caveat: the drop-in mattress. Does anyone have a trick for making up these beds? I used to bust my fingers trying to achieve hospital corners on my old Malm.

Very nice.
We have IKEA's Malm and I like the way it looks but I have the same problem making it. I find that cursing helps.
oh, cursing helps for sure. you know what else does? not making the bed!
What most people don't realize about IKEA bed frames, is that they are not standard size. They are sized to fit IKEA mattresses, which are slightly smaller than regular mattresses. So unless you are buying a platform style where the bed is completely floating on top of the platform with no sides or foot, the mattress with bedding on it, is going to be a total pain, and possibly bad for the springs of your mattress.
Mmmmm, mitered corners...!
So, any opinion on the CB2 Hancock bookcase. It sort of caught my eye in the new catalouge. Just looking for a second (savvy) opinion.

good to know, experimentsinhonesty. i saw that hancock bookcase and love the style and the x-back but wish it were straight up and down, not slope-y like one of those leaning tower pottery barn desks.
