Bamboozled Again
So I love Anthropologie but they've got some nerve charging $128 for a pair of these bamboo folding chairs:
Target tags these speckled brown ones at $69.99 for two:
Different color, EXACT SAME CHAIR. And I know I bought two of these a few years ago at Linens N Things for twenty bucks each but can't find them on their site. Anybody spot 'em at World Market or elsewhere?

not to mention looks like Tarzhay has free shipping
Unbelievable.
I'm convinced that Anthropologie (one of my most favorite stores) prices exclusively for exclusivity.
I mean, I think that they're pricing for "perceived value" and not because their products are always made of rarer materials, are handmade, or created by high-dollar designers. Sheesh.
Who knew bohemian chic, a style made popular by people using found objects, could become such a commodity?!
Ballard Designs also has these chairs. They have them in what appears to be the same finish as Anthropologie as well as an attractive antique white. $99.95 for two

improvementscatalog.com has similar chairs on sale for 39.97 for a set of two.
I hate to be that person... but my post has nothing to do with the awesome bamboo chairs :) I have been reading your blog for a while and I can?t seem to find a recommendation for a sofa table? one that could help transition the back of a sofa to another room? what kind of height is appropriate? I don?t want people bumping their egg on it? any recommendations?
mammyjam, i hear you on anthro's prices. it's chic stuff but one shouldn't pay more just because they took the best of bali/mumbai/wherever and put it all in one place. or recovered an ordinary chair insome josef frank fabric.
nicholesb, i definitely recommend the 'runway' console table from CB2. i had it behind my own sofa to separate living and entry areas -- it's 6 ft long but not too high or deep, and the Parsons proportions are perfect. plop two lamps on it and tuck some benches/boxes/pottery underneath.
As much as I love Anthropologie, most of their pricing is plainly absurd. My friend spotted their owl mugs at a 99 cent store in Chinatown.
I found them here http://www.folding-chairs-tables.net for $22.50/each. Check it out.
I really love anthropologie, but I can usually find a knock off version for half the price at target or somewhere else. I wonder if these chairs would even hold up better then the target ones?
Hello Nick...long time reader first time poster....BIG FAN. As for the chairs I recently put a pair of these on the street because they were too big for my shoebox apartment, so for anyone living in Brooklyn... FINDERS KEEPERS. Happy hunting.
