New Rug Hotness
Promise I'm not soliciting swag from the good people at West Elm, but they deserve more 'attaboys' (my dad's term; the opposite of a 'nastigram') for these new rugs:
The jute diamond, only 129 bucks for a 5x8!! Love the pattern and that it's not chenille-y wool. And now my favorite:
This blue-on-blue Tangiers dhurrie makes me downright giddy -- $399 for an 8x10 -- don't tell Maddy Weinrib. Unlike orchids chevrons never get old to me. And is Yves Klein having a moment right now or what??

'attaboys' and 'nastigrams'! your father must work for the federal government like i do--i hear those terms all the time!
Urban Outfitters has a few new Weinriberific chenille rugs that are worth a gander, as well.
I also love the moroccan tile rug in gray/ivory from West Elm...clearly a weinrib homage as well....
I convinced my parents to buy the jute diamond one--nice (but way rope-ier than they were imagining, sorry). Warning: no dogs (or high-traffic areas). The shitzus have already pulled a few spots. I'd hate to see what a lab could do...
indeed he was a federal employee, amorris8!! now blissfully retired. uncle sam sure taught him (and his kids) some jazzy lingo ...
notthetrade, this is why i don't have pets! don't get me wrong i love animals, squeezing their furry faces and playing fetch and all that, but i can't abide the constant cleanup. maybe when i get that country house with the olympic-size dog run. reminds me just last night i had to help a poor, dog-sitting friend walk a labradoodle puppy through greenwich village and i almost had a pyschotic episode. animals (and humans) need space. ::rant over::
What's the deal with that Weinrib lady charging like $900 for a throw pillow that some poor village children were probably paid 4 cents to make? (And then she cuts the fabric up and stitches it back together wrong on purpose--check out the next pillow of hers you see--what's up with that?)
That blue rug is gorgeous - it definitely reminds me of Morocco, and I could see it working for a lot of different styles.
