She Had It Covered
Just when I thought I was slap out of deals, my pal Elfya came through with the most exciting website/service I've seen in a long time: Bemz, a Swedish company that makes CHEAP custom slipcovers for IKEA sofas and chairs! ! ! I mean, IKEA is fabulous but their fabric selection leaves a little to be desired, and I'm all about tweaking good design. Check out my fave
Karlanda sofa done up in three different Bemz options (click on photos to see close ups:
The windowpane print (middle) is so chic and versatile and the whole set costs just over $260! The stripe also comes in a black and white, very Geoffrey Beene. I sort of wish they offered contrast welt (piping) at the seams, but beggars can't be choosers! These take 6 weeks upon order for delivery but worth it not to dump your old sofa or live with grody
cushions, right?

OMG...this website is amazing. I thought I was going to have to learn how to sew a slip cover for my chair, but now I can order one. Thanks Nick!
This is great! But I need a slipcover for my Hawthorne sofa from Room & Board -- anyone know of a similar company that does this for R&B or C&B sofas??
Has anyone seen or heard of slipcovers in burlap or burlap-esque fabric? Not even a slipcover even, but kind of a drape-y effect? My sofa is in desperate need of a makeover, and is a favorite hangout for my kitties. Burlap color/texture would do the trick. Any thoughts, anyone? =)
Those first two are really good nick.. very good match for spring and or summer. put them together with a little bit of lime or turquoise/aqua then im sure you wont even leave your room =D
as for the kitties, i'll research some good sturdy but comfortable fabrics for you if i can alrighty?
