More DC Highlights
As promised, more great places to shop in the Land of Washington:
Miss Pixie's Furnishings and Whatnot - A really well-curated selection of furniture and accessories in the Adams-Morgan neighborhood. Sort of like the best of the flea market in one store. Look at this awesome chrome table and 4 chairs:
Reduced to $350!!! I told my patient shopping companion Cory that I'd recover the seats in a solid color (shiny red leather?) and paint the laminate top in a black and white geometric.
I knew I had to go to this nabe after finding a DC street style blog called Panda Head -- so many cute young things walking down 18th Street. There are also a couple African bazaars along this stretch, Bazaar Atlas and Oya Mini Bazaar, selling fab woven scarves, blankets and a vest I bought with stripes and elephants.
Over in picture-perfect Georgetown I have to include the Christ Child Opportunity Shop. I mean, I'd go there for the name alone, but there are some definite opportunities to exploit! Folks donate and sell their junk homewares here on consignment and I found two small white lamps with crewelwork fabric shades for 40 bucks.
Finally, I loved this store called Go Mama Go! The website doesn't really tell the story but it's jam-packed with cute stuff: mother of pearl salt shakers, beautiful blue and white ceramics, paper lanterns, and the chicest multicolored bowls made out of old telephone wires! Go and tell 'em Mama sent you.
And thanks to Perry for the recommendations!
