domino on a Dime: Suzanne's Suzani
Check out Colette Brooks and Eric Cadora's bedroom on pages 124-125 of the March issue. If TLC were still together (RIP Left Eye) they could do a whole album about it called GroovyCrunchyCool. That dog painting is just outrageous, but I'm really eyeing the suzani throw on their bed. It's from Hollyhock, Suzanne Rheinstein's beautiful home store in L.A. (Shout out to her lovely daughter Kate whom I met recently -- she reads the blog!) Anyway this old blankie is big, beautifully embroidered and certainly worth the price ... but I hear this voice in the back of my head saying ...

It measures 140 x 89 inches and bidding starts at $75 bucks. And there are plenty more where that came from (Uzbekistan). Sure it's new and hardly the same quality, but who isn't loving the trippy design and these colors? I see a study with tomato red lacquer walls, white trim and bookcases and black doors with this draped across an aubergine linen velvet sofa. Just a thought!

also, this one is not new! i've bought several from this ebay seller, and they are all old. it says this one is from 1940.
and, they are the exact same quality as the expensive ones sold at abc home, etc!

Arrrggggh, Nick, ya can't give all the good secrets away! I currently have a bid on a Suzani at Ebay and then I saw your post. Boy, I hope some Daily Dose reader doesn't go and outbid me now (holding you responsible, of course.)
how do i clean my suzani? i purchased online and the bedspread is beautiful but it needs to be cleaned badly! how do i clean it without wrecking the dye?
This post has been inspiring my home renovations for weeks... I don't know why... I didn't actually buy the tapestry on Ebay, but I definately went a checked it out which led me to my Monthly Ebay Overdose that my husband gets mad at me for :) Keep up the great posts!!
